At around 15:30 companies were dispatched
to the area of Glen Riddle Rd and Brandywine Dr. for a building fire. While enroute
to his station 69-9 advised units that there was a column of smoke showing from
the area. TS-50 arrived first with a 1.5 story single family dwelling with heavy
smoke showing. Crews from TS-50 and Engine 54 stretched an attack line to the
first floor. Engine 69 arrived and took an additonal line to the first floor and
sent crews to the roof for ventilation. Squad-50 arrived and took the hydrant
and supplied TS-50 and E54. Crews from TS-50 advanced a line to the second floor
but were evacuated due to deteriorating conditions. Crews attacked the fire from
the outside until conditions were deemed safe for re entry to extinguish hot spots.
Good job to the crews operating at the fire and dealing with the difficult environmental
conditions. Special thanks to Rescue 40, 68-1, and Engine 51 for covering our
station.
